Performers for 1st annual Asian Hip Hop Summit Seattle

SKIM
www.myspace.com/skimmusic

Originally from New York, but currently representing Los Angeles,
SKIM offers a bridge between man and woman, native and immigrant,
war and love. Introducing hip hop to the throb of Korean drums,
and rapping ferociously over guitar while singing in angelic keys,
SKIM escapes simple categorization. She convinces ears to listen,
bodies to dance, and hearts to open.

NASTY-NES & SHOCKMASTER GLEN BOYD
www.myspace.com/nastynes

A native of the Philippines, it was in 1970 when "Nasty-Nes" Rodriguez relocated
to the United States where his dreams became a reality. "While my sister was attending
New York University, I would spend my summer vacations in the Big Apple back in the
late 70's peeping out radio stations like WKTU & Mr. Magic's 'Rap Attack' show on
WBLS," says Nes. In addition, "That gave me the incentive to be a radio deejay and
a mix deejay after seeing Grandmaster Flash perform live on the wheels in New York!"
By 1980, Nes debuted the West Coasts first ever all rap radio show "Freshtracks"
on Seattle's 1250 KFOX. By 1985, NastyMix Records was born, an independent
record label co-founded by Nes. Sir Mix-A-Lot became their first artist on their
roster which gave NastyMix two platinum albums. By 1988, Nes took his rap
radio show 'Rap Attack' to KCMU (w/ Shockmaster Glen Boyd) and his 'Hotmix'
show to KUBE 93. Nes finally turned off his mic after 17 years on the Seattle
airwaves in September 1997 to relocate to Southern California where he became
the Rap Editor for HITS Magazine. Five years later, Nes left HITS to pursue his
own online National Rap Radio Promotions business with RapAttackLives.com.
Nes is also the CEO of Seattle's street promotional headquarters
Crazy Pinoy Promotions.

pen & the freestyle, Lyra Flip is also one of the most feared battlers in the rap scene.

organization Youth Speaks Seattle since 2002, and became its Program Director

NAM www.myspace.com/nam206

I was born in the Fall of '85 as Andrew Nam Le, a young emcee from the
avenues of South Seattle, from the Valley to the Beacon. Growing up the only child,
i looked up to my older friends for guidence. Introduced to Hip Hop at the age of 13,
i embraced it, and never let go of the love for the culture. At the beginning i found
the artform of graffiti, but with my urge to write and the inspiration of spoken
word and poetry, i found my real passion through the art of rhyme. And yes,
I'm Vietnamese. With the determinaton of building a better community and society
for the future generation, and a Hip Hop movement in Seattle, i keep writing
and keep building with youth. I'm also a community activist working as a Youth
Outreach Coordinator for a non-profit agency in Chinatown, serving at-risk
youth, and teaching poetry and Hip Hop Kulture.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Language Arts is a complex and charismatic emcee whose influences
span a wide range, from Bob Dylan to Big L. With aggressive yet poetic
lyrics, a knack for storytelling and stepping outside of his own experience,
he manipulates language to make it do things you never thought possible.

KING KHAZM

Daniel ¡°King Khazm¡± Kogita has been a formative force in the Seattle Hip Hop
scene for years, and his momentum as an artist, activist, educator, promoter
and community leader has only grown since he co-founded MAD Krew in 1995,
a Hip Hop crew that quickly evolved into an influential multimedia production company.
MAD Krew¡¯s release of the Hip Hop documentary video, ¡®Enter the Madness¡¯ in 1998,
helped exposed Pacific Northwest Hip Hop to a national view, a scene the crew was
pivotal in cultivating through the organization and production of many hip hop shows and
events. One of these, that has since grown to be among the most anticipated emcee
competitions nationally, is the Brainstorm Emcee Battle. Khazm is also the co-founder
and producer of Hip Hop 101, a live weekly television show for emerging Hip Hop artists
to showcase their skills through performances and video segments, which is broadcasted
on both regional cable and on the internet. In addition to this, Khazm co-hosts Zulu Radio,
