First held in 2002 at Seoul International
Park on the 10th anniversary of
the Los Angeles Riots, the annual Asian Hip Hop Summit continues to be
Southern California's premier festival of pan-Asian arts. Celebrating the
art of rap
(and dance and rock and spoken word and all forms of expression) while promoting
to
urban youth a progressive political consciousness, Asian Hip Hop Summit has
for the past 6 years set the standard for Asiatic musical excellence. Artists
who
performed at Asian Hip Hop Summit before achieving wider fame include:
Dumbfoundead (World Rap Championships), NoCanDo (2007 Scribble Jam champ),
Chosen 1 (Asia Entertainment), Susie Suh (Epic Records), Singasun (Sony Music),
Skim, Magnetic North, Putnam Hall, Jupitersciples, Lyraflip, The Oddibles,
Soulspeak, DJ Denkym, FEM, Nemo.
With annual festivals now established in San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver,
New York,
and Atlanta, Asian Hip Hop Summit has become a nationwide and international

Representing the heart and soul of America's pan-Asian arts movement,
the 6th annual Asian Hip Hop Summit Los Angeles will be a two day
event, with the first night (Fri, Jan 25, 2008) taking place in Chinatown,
headlined by Typical Cats from Chicago, and the second night (Sat, Jan 26,
2008)
taking place in Koreatown, featuring
the top dance & vocal performers in the
vibrant K-Town L.A. underground hip hop scene.
